Meet Ruby Ghauri, a tattoo artist at our Philly studio. She was on a totally different career path when inspiration struck and she decided to make a big change. Get inspired by the story of how she made a career in the arts for herself with the help of Ink Different Tattoo School!
When Ruby started on her path towards a career, it was for a profession completely different from tattoo artistry. She attended pharmacy school and interned as a pharmacy technician at a hospital with every intention of becoming a pharmacist. But when pharmacy school didn’t work out for Ruby, she found herself stuck with a job she didn’t love.
“I was a pharmacy technician in a hospital. I was originally in pharmacy school… I started there as an intern to get my experience hours… But then pharmacy school didn’t work out and they took me on as a full-time technician at the hospital.”
Ruby finally reached a pivotal moment on her path to becoming a tattoo artist when she realized she could do more than just draw designs that people would take to a tattoo artist to complete. She didn’t have to cut her creativity short at the design process. She could see it through to the end by becoming a tattoo artist herself. So, she began looking for the right training she needed to start her new career path.
“Why don’t I just cut out the middleman and come up with these concepts and do the tattoo designs for people? And so I looked into some way to do a tattoo apprenticeship.”
“One of the things that definitely drew me to Body Art & Soul was just the fact that it was more driven towards having an actual structured apprenticeship.”Ruby knew she wanted to find an apprenticeship that was right for her. She wanted a program with structure and goals she could effectively and efficiently work towards. When she discovered the Ink Different Tattoo School apprenticeship program she knew it was the right one for her.
Life can sometimes turn your plans upside down. But those are the moments that can be opportunities for you to seize and make a better life for yourself. For Ruby, seizing that opportunity was the best decision she could have made for her career and her quality of life.
“I still would take my most stressful busy day now than one of my half decent days at my previous full-time job.”
